The popularity That Won’t Vanish entirely
One trend within the holiday rental industry, plus the travel industry at large, may be the tendency of travelers to create last minute travel arrangements. We’ve known this intuitively for decades and national travel numerous studies have told us repeatedly this would have been a growing phenomenon. I would not believe, however, it truly located the Outer Banks until this coming year.
The Outer Banks Visitor Bureau hired a research company to do an extensive study on travel patterns and perceptions of travelers, both in and outside of the Outer Banks’ traditional markets. As you move the study went into many issues, the noteworthy conclusion that popped next to the pages was this: Over 50% of vacationers likely to travel this summer need to make their arrangements lower than 2 months prior to traveling.
The report states, “National research consistently suggests that people are waiting longer to plan their trips. The travel industry has ‘trained’ website visitors to wait longer by rewarding last-minute bookings with deals and minimize prices. Because of this, the Outer Banks may not begin to see the advanced bookings which are typical in the past.” It proceeded to advise that “businesses about the Outer Banks should adapt to these shorter cycles when looking for their booking positions.”
